The following comment was recorded regarding this deployment - 'Lizard Island Weather Station Maximum Wind Speed measured over 10 minutes in m/Sec : Vaisala WXT520 Weather Transmitted D4210001'. Instrumentation was deployed for measuring Maximum Wind Speed 10 Minutes from 01 Mar 2012 through to 15 Sep 2017, and the installation was located at/on Lizard Island Weather Station Latitude:-14.6915 - Longitude:145.466417. Sensor deployed was a Vaisala WXT510/WXT520 Weather Transmitter manufactured by Vaisala, model WXT510. Notes

The weather station is to provide on-reef weather conditions to allow the interaction with the atmosphere and the water to be understood. It is NOT set up as a meteorological grade station (for example it is too low to the water) but rather to give an indication of the atmospheric conditions at the surface of the water actually on the reef. If you need meteorological grade observations then use the data available for near by locations from www.bom.gov.au
